Rowupdating dataset

In Row Updating, I see the old data and not the new data that was entered by the user. What I need to do is update the Data Set in Row Updating with data that the user entered.

If I rebuild the Grid View before Row Updating fires then this data is lost..

I decided to fool around a little more to see what I could find.

The problem was fixed by your earlier post about rebuilding the table on every postback. Text; echo field "User Entered Value, Value from Database" I thought this to besomewhat "dirty" and unexpected, so I probed some more.

If you're creating the adapter explicitly in your code, just add the call yourself.

so, in the first place and as you realize quite well, you need to separate the databinding versus templatefield creation (the latter can be dependent on the dataset as long as you don't bind). Is Post Back in Page Load, just like you were already doing but for something else: page_load OK I got it. Text; echo field "User Entered Value" Thanks for all the help!

Page { private static Data Set ds; A static variable means that all users will see & manipulate the same data. And if so, you need to be careful about concurrent access to the static variable...

I will have to fix that before the site ships, but that is for another time. build Grid() fires and repopulates the Grid with data from ds It is during step 2 that I need to read the data from the Grid View but the Grid View is empty.

I was going to try to seperate the Data Binding and Template Field creation. Count is 0, but this command must have some impact on viewstate because I ended up with....

The way my code is set up makes that a large time investment however.
